Description
From the powerful reds of Châteauneuf-du-Pape to the pale rosés that made Provence famous, this 6-day wine route crosses four appellations and three landscapes: the stony terraces of the Rhône, the hillside vineyards of the Luberon, and the seaside vines of Bandol and Cassis. Estate visits, cellar tastings and winemaker lunches — designed for curious palates, no expertise required.

Itinerary
Day 1 – Avignon, capital of the papal vineyards
Arrival in Avignon, city of the Popes — who planted the vineyards this journey begins with. Welcome tasting to map the week: grape varieties, appellations, and how to taste like a professional (spitting optional).
Dinner in the intramuros old town. Overnight in Avignon.
Day 2 – Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Châteauneuf-du-Pape, the Rhône’s most legendary name. Morning walk among the galets roulés — the round stones that store daytime heat and release it to the vines at night — followed by two estate visits with cellar tastings.
Winemaker lunch at the domaine, then free time in the village and its wine boutiques. Overnight in Avignon.
Day 3 – Gigondas & the Dentelles de Montmirail
The southern Rhône’s dramatic side: the jagged Dentelles de Montmirail. Tastings in Gigondas and Vacqueyras, villages where the wine is as concentrated as the scenery, plus a stop in Beaumes-de-Venise for its golden muscat.
Scenic drive through Séguret, one of France’s most beautiful villages. Overnight in the Vaucluse.
Day 4 – Luberon wine villages
Crossing the Luberon: vineyards draped over hillsides between Bonnieux, Ménerbes and Oppède. Visit of a family estate converted to organic farming, tasting of Luberon AOP reds, whites and rosés.
Afternoon among the hilltop villages, glass in hand and camera ready. Overnight in Aix-en-Provence.
Day 5 – Bandol & the seaside vines
South to the sea and Bandol, home of Provence’s most age-worthy reds, built on the Mourvèdre grape. Visit of a terraced estate overlooking the Mediterranean, with a vertical tasting to understand how these wines evolve.
Evening in the port of Sanary-sur-Mer. Overnight on the coast.
Day 6 – Cassis, wine facing the sea
Grand finale in Cassis, France’s first AOC (1936), where the white wine grows in terraces between cliff and sea. Morning estate visit and tasting, then a farewell seafood lunch on the port — sea urchins and Cassis blanc, the region’s perfect pairing.
Transfer to Marseille airport or station in the afternoon.
