Itinerary

Day 1 – The soul of Marseille: Noailles & Le Panier

Your Provençal adventure begins in Marseille, France’s oldest city. Guided by a local resident, you will start in Noailles, the “exotic heart” of Marseille, where markets overflow with oriental spices and century-old shops keep traditions alive. Discover the origins of La Marseillaise and the site of the very first cinema in history.

In the afternoon, continue to Le Panier, the city’s oldest district. Its narrow lanes and colorful facades open onto charming squares, artisan workshops, santon makers and contemporary street art. This blend of history and creativity perfectly reflects Marseille’s identity.

Free evening to enjoy the lively atmosphere of the Vieux-Port. Overnight in Marseille.

From the Luminy campus, departure for a guided hike in the Calanques National Park, where limestone cliffs plunge into turquoise waters. Your guide will lead you to spectacular viewpoints over the Sugiton and Saint-Jean-de-Dieu calanques, while sharing insights into the region’s flora, fauna and geology.

Picnic along the way with views over the Mediterranean, then return to Marseille for a free evening. Overnight in Marseille.

Morning departure for Cassis, a charming fishing port with colorful boats and lively terraces. Optional boat cruise through the calanques (weather permitting) and panoramic drive along Cap Canaille, the highest sea cliff in Europe.

In the afternoon, head to the Luberon and some of the most beautiful villages in Provence: Lourmarin and its Renaissance château, Roussillon with its ochre cliffs, and Gordes, a spectacular stone village perched above the valley. Photo stop in Bonnieux before arriving in Aix-en-Provence. Overnight in Aix-en-Provence.

Morning transfer to Avignon, the “City of the Popes”. Exploration of the UNESCO-listed historic center: the Palais des Papes, the lively Place de l’Horloge and the famous Pont d’Avignon.

In the afternoon, continue through the Rhône Valley vineyards to Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Visit a local wine estate, discover the terroir and taste the region’s powerful reds. Overnight in Avignon.

Discover Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, with its Roman ruins and picturesque streets lined with fountains, cafés and boutiques. Guided walk through the town’s highlights.

Continue to Les Baux-de-Provence, perched on a rocky outcrop at 245 m. Visit the Romanesque church of Saint-Vincent and the Hôtel des Porcelets, and wander the cobbled streets offering spectacular views over the Alpilles.

Optional: entrance to the Carrières de Lumières, a former quarry transformed into a multimedia art show. Overnight in Avignon.

The journey ends with a visit to the Pont du Gard, a colossal 1st-century Roman aqueduct and UNESCO site. Walk across its ancient arches, visit the museum or simply admire the surrounding natural beauty.

Return to Avignon in the afternoon, concluding your Provence adventure.
