Itinerary
Day 1 – Aix-en-Provence and its markets
Arrival in Aix-en-Provence and first immersion in the Provençal art of eating: guided tour of the food market — goat cheeses, tapenades, calissons, seasonal produce — with tastings at the stalls our guide knows by name.
Aperitivo hour on the Cours Mirabeau: pastis, olives and the gentle theatre of Aixois life. Welcome dinner and overnight in Aix.
Day 2 – Olive oil route in the Alpilles
Morning in the Alpilles, among some of France’s finest olive groves. Visit of a traditional mill in the Vallée des Baux, tasting of AOP olive oils — fruity green, ripe black — and lunch in Les Baux-de-Provence, perched above the groves.
Afternoon walk in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence and its gourmet boutiques. Overnight in Aix.
Day 3 – Truffles & Luberon villages
The Luberon, garden of Provence. Meet a truffle grower for a demonstration hunt with his dog (seasonal), followed by a truffle-themed tasting. Continue through the hilltop villages of Gordes and Bonnieux, stopping at a farmhouse producer of goat cheese and honey.
Dinner in a village bistrot dedicated to Luberon produce. Overnight in the Luberon.
Day 4 – Châteauneuf-du-Pape & Rhône wines
Wine day in the Rhône Valley. Morning in Châteauneuf-du-Pape: walk among the famous galets roulés — the round stones that store the sun’s heat — and cellar visits with tastings of the appellation’s powerful reds.
Lunch among the vines, then a second estate in Gigondas or Vacqueyras for comparison. Overnight in Avignon.
Day 5 – Cooking class & Avignon
Your hands take over: morning cooking class with a Provençal chef — market visit together, then preparation of a full menu: petits farcis, pistou, seasonal dessert. Lunch is what you cooked, shared around the table with the region’s wines.
Free afternoon in Avignon, city of the Popes. Overnight in Avignon.
Day 6 – Bouillabaisse in Marseille
Grand finale in Marseille. Morning at the Vieux-Port fish market, then the tasting that justifies the whole journey: an authentic bouillabaisse in a portside institution, served in the traditional two courses.
Digestive walk through Le Panier district before transfer to Marseille airport or station.
